The labeled 1895 square bottles

We all got a replica 1895 bottle in our collection, some of us have an original 1895 bottle but there some lucky collectors that have one with an original label still on it. Imagion back then, 1895, bottles where labeled with primatieve made labels. After the owner finished the whiskey they trow the empty bottle away. With a little water these labels are washed of pretty easy so you can imagion there aren't many of the labeled bottles from 100 y old still around. I did find a few samples of these bottles.

All these bottle belong to the private collection of D.Cauwels and his lovely wife. I had the privilege to look at his collection and take the pictures my self and hold this little piece of Jack Daniel's history in my own hand.
I want to thank Don and Diane for sharing this with all of us here on the Jack Daniel's Collectors page.

First green label cork finished quart bottle ( ? )

This next bottle has no embossement at the back of the bottle. The label has no Gold Medal awards on it, could this be a bottle from before 1904? This would mean one of the first labeled bottles ....
There was a second design for sale on EBay in 2006. I was hoping that the new owner would like to contact me and share some pictures of it with us here on the site...

Here you see that the "No.7" has a circle embossed around it.

1906/1910 "Sour Mash" labeled bottle

My first labeled 1895 bottle in the collection. And what a nice bottle it is!

The label reads "OLD SOUR MASH WHISKEY" in red letters outlined with gold. "DISTILLED FROM SELECT GRAIN AND IS ABSOLUTELY PURE" on a gold banner to the upper left. "JACK DANIEL" in the center. "BOTTLED UNDER THE PURE FOOD", "DRUGS ACT JUNE 30 1906" and "JACK DANIEL DISTILLER LYNCHBURG. TENN" at the bottom of the label and 4 gold medals at the right center.

The label is also outlined in a gold border that is 1/8'' diameter.

The Tennessee Squire Association made a couple of replica labels from the early years of Jack Daniels. This label was one of the orginal labels used as one of them (6 different labels in total)

(Replica label)

It is 10 1/4'' tall or about 3/4'' shorter than the average quart and 3'' square at the body or 5/16'' narrower than the average quart.
