The older Jack Daniel's labeled bottles
Talking about rare bottles... These bottles below are problebly the most rare bottles I have ever held in my hand. Full... sealed... and perfect labels. Back then these bottles where trown away and the labels washed of by rain and water. What left was a nice "1895" square bottle we all know about. This is the real deal !
All these bottle belong to the private collection of D.Cauwels and his lovely wife. I had the privilege to look at his collection and take the pictures my self and hold this little piece of Jack Daniel's history in my own hand.
I want to thank Don and Diane for sharing this with all of us here on the Jack Daniel's Collectors page. Please enjoy it...

The Belle of Lincoln "Straight whiskey"

This is one of the 6 bottles known that is still full and sealed. All these bottles are locked up at the distillery except this one... The first time I visited the distillery in 1998 I have seen this bottle in one of the display barrels at the old visitors center in Lynchburg, TN.

Barrel display visitors center 1998

After that nobody had seen it.... Well I found one in a personal collection that I could see on my last trip to the US. Perfect bottle, perfect seal and labels. It looks like it has just been taken of a shelf! Check it out my friends, "a beauty" incl. the original wrapping material from c. 1912 !

If you look close at the forth and fifth picture you can see it's "just" a normal 1895 bottle with a label ! Maybe we all got an original Belle of Lincoln in our own collection....

See close and you'll see it's a normal 1895 kind of bottle with label...

In the pewter cap are the words "Jack Daniel's, Lynchburg Tenn." embossed...

Perfect label, almost 100 y old...
This bottle was made after the prohibition closed the distillery in Lynchburg and Mr. Motlow had to move the company to St. Louis, Missouri. Take a closer look at the label and see below the words Jack Daniel's the name of the city, St. Louis.

This bottle was original wrapped in a piece of printed cardboard. A same kind of this cardboard was displayed back then in the display barrels in the visitors center (1998). The piece below is an even more "complete" piece of Jack Daniel's history !

c.1900 Leather covered half pint Cheater

Collectors who got that little black booklet called "old bottles and Jugs" may have seen this little bottle before. It's the one on page 28! Made around 1900. Glass half pint covered with a leather sleeve. If you notice on the back side you see these little "holes" ... This is not for damaged... these are ment to see how many whiskey was still inside the flask!
